The Right-of-Way Services (ROWS) Survey Section has the full-time, unlimited Land Surveyor Supervisor position open. Strong supervisory leadership, innovative foresight, experience and knowledge in the field of Surveying is valued. The City and County of Denver honors equivalency using professional experience to substitute for a degree for this classification and position. This position is unique in that the supervisor will manage the GIS and the Addressing Technician teams. We have a diverse and talented team! The Survey Section’s 30 professional and technical staff members provide land survey expertise to the Department of Transportation & Infrastructure, as well as other city agencies. The Survey team proactively reviews both private and city development projects, assists with land acquisition and real estate for all city departments including the review of subdivision plats and site plans, annexations, street vacations, easement dedications, land disposal, leases, and addressing.
As the Land Surveyor Supervisor, duties will include:
Supervise a team of eight to 10 Professional Land surveyors and technicians in GIS and Data management, and paraprofessional Plans Review Specialists (non-survey Addressing staff)
Lead subject matter expert for your staff, while providing support for the Manager
Implementing and following CCD/DOTI/ROWS policies, regulations and structure of the City and County of Denver and ensuring the staff follow your guidance
Support staff by working through escalations with internal and external stakeholders
Creating an innovative work environment where staff can excel in their areas of expertise
Manage data reporting and working closely with Survey Team’s leadership to achieve division goals
Partner with the Survey supervisors and leaders by strong participation and collaboration using best practices, staying up-to-date with technology and implementing innovations that help streamline and build efficiency

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Surveying, Engineering or a related field
Experience: Three (3) years of experience as a Land Surveyor
License/Certifications: By position, requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application
Licensure as a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) issued by the Colorado State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors at the time of application
Licensure as a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) by another state will be accepted in lieu of this requirement providing the applicant is licensed by the State of Colorado by the completion of the probationary period
Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment
Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education
Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements
