The Survey Section’s 30 professional and technical staff members provide land survey expertise to the Department of Transportation & Infrastructure, as well as other city agencies. The Survey team proactively reviews both private and city development projects, assists with land acquisition and real estate for all city departments including the review of subdivision plats and site plans, annexations, street vacations, easement dedications, land disposal, leases, and addressing.
The Right Of Way Services (ROWS) Survey Section has the full-time, unlimited Surveying Technician I position open.
Surveying in the city controls right-of-way and development location and protects our most valuable assets. As a Surveying Technician I, you will perform entry-level surveying technician work in support of surveying and/or engineering projects or programs, including office and field surveys and site analyses and review.
As a Surveying Technician I, the duties include:
Working with contract crews recovering survey monuments throughout the City and County of Denver – staking locations in paving areas
Provide traffic control to contract crews
Gather GPS data on survey monuments’ positions, and enter City records into the database
Layout survey monument locations for recovery efforts
Assistance with generating maps to aid in the monument recovery project
Research and maintain City records pertaining to the Survey Department

Education: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate
Experience: One (1) year of experience working with policies, procedures, statutes, rules or regulations pertaining to land use, which must have included experience interpreting drawings, maps, legal descriptions, construction methods, and/or mapping systems
Education/Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements
