Our Advanced Geomatics team is seeking a Senior Land Surveyor to provide enterprise-wide expertise and support in the areas of land surveying, cadastral mapping, survey control, easement preparation and review, topographic mapping, engineering surveys, and land survey plat and subdivision review. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with the ADG Supervisor and other field survey staff to plan and organize field surveys. This role also offers the opportunity to leverage your knowledge of and experience with plane surveying, field data collection methodologies, and survey technologies.
A day in the life of a Senior Land Surveyor may include:
• Creating and maintaining FIMS cadastral mapping data, including lot/parcel, subdivision, right-of-way, preliminary lot, and centerline ArcGIS feature data sets
• Providing cadastral base mapping maintenance updates bound for the El Paso County Assessor’s office
• Performing Coordinate Geometry (COGO) construction of subdivisions and lots
• Maintaining annexation, city boundary, and Utility service area boundaries
• Performing land surveys related to city property or land base/utility activities
• Conducting property corner searches, construction staking, design surveys, topographic surveys, control surveys, and leveling and deformation surveys
• Performing “field to finish” editing of survey data in Civil 3D
• Performing 3D scanning and modeling using terrestrial and mobile LiDAR scanning
• Operating various types of survey equipment including total stations, digital levels, GPS equipment, and data collectors
• Providing support to GIS Analysts for ArcFM Facilities and Engineering data conversion
• Reviewing developer-initiated easements and plats
• Supporting Colorado Springs Utilities' dam monitoring surveys on an annual basis
Please note that the majority (~75%) of this position is comprised of fieldwork where you may be subject to changing weather conditions. This position also requires performing labor-intensive tasks, including but not limited to clearing brush, laying out stakes, and transporting survey equipment.


Qualifications:
Who You Are
• A Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) certification is required, or the ability to obtain within 12 months of hire; a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) certification is highly valued
• Experience with land survey equipment and technologies, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Trimble survey equipment, Leica Infinity, Trimble Business Center, and the Colorado State Plane Coordinate System, is valued
• Knowledge of construction and utility infrastructure terminology is valued
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and supporting documentation is valued
• Possession of a valid, unrestricted driver's license is required
